Job description

The Pharmacy Technician 2, under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, assists with compounds and dispensing medical prescriptions and may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. The position is expected to receive and store incoming supplies, verify stock and enter data into the computer to maintain inventory records, and is expected to meet state certifications. The position has mastered all Pharmacy Tech 1 requirements and has additional specialization requirements such as IV, Automation, Narcotics, etc., and requires familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures, relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, is expected to perform a variety of complicated tasks, and may lead and direct the work of others. - Technical Tasks - Completes the medication ordering process by entering data into the computer, reviewing and interpreting prescriptions, assisting the Pharmacist in filling containers with prescribed medication amounts, typing prescription labels, and attaching labels to containers following the general dispensing format.
