Job Summary Under the direction of the Executive Director of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety the Laboratory Safety Technician will work with EHRS team members to assist in the management of laboratory safety with an emphasis on chemical hygiene, biological safety and radiation safety. Essential Functions: - Assist in overall compliance goals of Drexel University through the routine inspection of research and academic laboratories, review of research protocols, training of personnel, periodic sampling, surveying or testing of safety equipment, the development of written compliance programs and associated paperwork and data entry for record keeping; manage required supplies and equipment. - Responsible for Laboratory Safety Inspections, Chemical Fume Hood Inspections, Eye Wash and Safety Shower Inspections, Training Compliance, Biological Safety Containment Equipment Certifications, and Hazardous Materials management. - Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance with the University’s policies and procedures. - Provide emergency response to hazardous material releases; Implement and manage the University’s Hazardous Material Emergency Response Plan.
