Job description

Direct VDOT's traffic systems management program, concentrating on signal systems management. Guide development, implementation and management of statewide traffic signal systems. Lead and develop statewide policy and best practice guidelines to plan, design, develop and measure performance of traffic signal systems to align with VDOT program policies and vision on transportation mobility and operational efficiency, safety, asset management, funding strategies and regional consistency. Work with ITS ensuring conformance with communications technology, interoperability of equipment and alignment of systems operational efficiency goals. Establish statewide consistency in application of traffic engineering and operational activities related to concept design, installation, monitoring, modification, maintenance and administration of statewide traffic signal systems. Research, develop and implement coordination of short and long-range transportation system plans using best practices and signal and ITS technology.
