Job Summary: The Perinatal Technician for Labor and Delivery performs designated direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Flexes job focus between surgical scrub technician role during labor, delivery, post-partum, newborn nursery and unit secretary and receptionist role as necessary to meet the department needs in an environment that quickly changes. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service, safety, and professionalism. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Graduate of accredited Operating Room Technician or Surgical Technician program required. One year experience as a surgical technician preferred. One year of surgical technician experience may be considered in lieu of Operating Room Technician or Surgical Technician program. One year Obstetrics Surgical Technician experience preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Solid knowledge of surgical asepsis and infection control required. Basic knowledge of anatomy and obstetrical and gynecological surgical instrumentation required.
