Job Summary: The Emergency Department Clinical Social Worker is responsible for the provision of behavioral health services including triage, assessment, intervention, and discharge planning for patients with behavioral health needs in the Emergency Department. The Clinical Social Worker functions as a member of the interdisciplinary care team providing behavioral health and social work expertise. Duties and Responsibilities: The Emergency Department Clinical Social Worker is responsible for the emergency clinical assessment of patients, conveying clinical findings and recommendations to the attending physician, and facilitating transfer or discharge to the appropriate level of care. Maintains all required documentation, following all departmental procedures. Provides psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling for patient presenting to the Emergency Department with a behavioral health or psychosocial need. Coordinates appropriate referrals and facilities mandating reporting when a safety issue is identified. Utilizes clinical supervision as needed for complex cases.
