Safepoint Insurance is an admitted Property & Casualty insurance carrier based in Tampa, FL. This is an in-house (remotely domiciled) legal counsel position involving the defense of first-party property lawsuits in Florida. Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage an active caseload of 50-85 litigated cases - Attend hearings and depositions - Appear for mediations on behalf of company - Negotiate settlements - Litigate cases up to and including trial - Additional projects and/or responsibilities as needed by the Legal Department Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree and JD from an accredited law school - Florida licensed attorney with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in insurance defense litigation in a law firm or primary P&C carrier - Member in Good Standing with the Florida Bar - Solid understanding of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure - Expert in reading and interpreting contracts with the ability to evaluate and resolve coverage issues - Ability to educate claims specialists in complex coverage issues - Extensive experience with motion practice, written discovery, and depositions; - Strong negotiation and communication skills - Extensive experience with complex claims coverage i...
