Works independently in all acute and critical care settings. Consults with physicians and other personnel and makes recommendations on treatment as appropriate. Team members in this job have committed to work a minimum 48-hour commitment for a 6-week period. Acts independently to perform respiratory therapy general and critical care procedures in accordance with the physician’s order, departmental policy, and Respiratory Care guidelines or protocols. Initiates, monitors and manages patients requiring various types of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. Initiates and manages various types of airways and associated equipment. Obtains blood gasses from all sites. Analyzes and reports results. Documents and charges for all respiratory care procedures and tasks and provides patient and family education as appropriate.
