Job description

The OR Aide, under the direction of the Unit's Nurse, is responsible for the care and safety of any patients assigned to the Aide and for performing technical and support duties for assigned areas of the Unit. Essential Duties: - The Aide is responsible for transporting or assisting in the transport of surgical patients to and from Unit. - Assists the unit's Nursing staff with moving and positioning patients within the Unit, utilizing sound principles of body mechanics. - Adheres to all Infection Control Policies & Procedures especially in handwashing and isolation protocols - Adheres to Handoff Communication among caregivers - Any special equipment needed for transport is available and ready for use. - Maintains inventory of designated supplies and equipment at appropriate levels. - Maintains designated equipment for proper functioning. - Participates in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates flexibility in accepting and completing assignments. - Uses equipment and supplies in a cost effective and responsible manner and actively supports cost containment efforts. - Is both self-directed and collegial, contributing positively to overall customer service and patient satisfact...
