Job Description Performs respiratory therapy as prescribed by a physician for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and illness. Sets up, operates and maintains respiratory equipment. Job Responsibility: 1.Ensures accurate and complete Physician prescription. 2.Compares prescription requests with medical record order form and ensures information is complete. Clarifies any discrepancies with Physician. 3.Provides patient/significant other with respiratory education. Explains treatment, tests and equipment uses. 4.Provides prescribed respiratory therapy including: airway maintenance, emergency care, pulmonary function testing, cardio-respiratory rehabilitation and cardio-respiratory drug administration. 5.Performs bedside vital capacity, inspiratory force peak flow measurements, etc. 6.Administers various oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices and mechanical ventilators. 7.Supervises oxygen supported ambulation; performs chest physical therapy (cupping and coughing). 8.Provides and monitors mechanical ventilators on assigned unit.
