Job description

The Senior Welder is responsible for welding in the construction, installation, modification, and repair of the University of Tennessee Knoxville’s plumbing, sewer, storm sewer, gas, steam infrastructure facilities, hand rails, platforms, and other welding needed and to ensure the continued safe and reliable distribution and discharge of utility pipe lines to the Campus. The Senior Welder performs and coordinates welding activities using heliarc, shielded metal arc, and oxy-acetylene welding equipment. The position is responsible for welding on various materials including high pressure steam lines and for general campus repairs. - Performs the welding, installation, and repair of all campus owned underground utilities including high pressure steam distribution, low pressure steam for building heat, condensate and domestic water, chilled water for cooling, gas, sewer, and storm sewers. - Acquires a deeper understanding of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment for operations and testing. - Must know the system operation, handle the assessment, and be able to diagnosis, repair, and replace all piping systems according to specifications. - Must be able to weld in all positions....
