Description Position: Heavy Equipment Operator: Division: Metal Source: Status: Full Time / Hourly: SUMMARY: The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating the heavy equipment in our recycling yards. REPORTS TO: Yard Supervisor / Yard Manager SUPERVISES: N/A: ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear-view camera are clean and operational. - Perform and document minor service on equipment, referring to more complicated mechanical issues to Maintenance Shop for repair. - Operate material handling crane to move material within the yard. - Load and unload trucks / trailers of material with crane or other material handling equipment. - Process and prepare scrap metal material for shipping per instructions. - Direct customers within the yard and help customers unload material. - This position will be cross trained to help in other areas of the yard as needed. - Regular and timely attendance is an expectation of the position. - Follow the 5S foundations for deploying lean production tools and processes.
