City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift: First (Days) Overview: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Burn Trauma unit. This is a Full Time, Day Shift (12-hour shift) position. Hours: 7:00am to 7:00pm - Three 12-hour shifts (36 hours per week), with rotating weekends. Department Overview: Burn Trauma is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. There are 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care. The patient population is neurosurgery, trauma, burns and orthopedic trauma. The intermediate care patients are received from both the Burn/Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. There are also 17 beds for medical/surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss (gastric bypass and gastric sleeves). The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
