What You'll Do As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide training, coaching, mentoring and counseling to people with disabilities in the areas of appropriate work attitudes, work skills specific to individuals' employment, social and communication skills. Your responsibilities will include: - Individual Support and Training : Provide training, coaching, mentoring, and counseling to people with disabilities in the areas of appropriate work attitudes, employability, work skills specific to individuals' employment, social and communication skills, use of adaptive equipment, and positive behavioral change in consultation with team members. This may be done in person, via virtual learning, and by teaching employment readiness-type classes in person. Utilize positive behavior management techniques in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia guidelines and MANDT behavior protocol. Ensure all individuals receive the required training to enable them to meet their maximum potential. Help train newly enrolled individuals by assisting with the transition process.
