Description Job Purpose: The OR Circulating Registered Nurse monitors the procedures in the operating room during surgery and assists as an intermediary between the physicians and operating room staff members. Duties and Responsibilities: · Prepares patients for surgical procedures and handles the preparation for the operating room before the surgery · Works side by side with scrub nurses and directly with the surgeon to help maintain the sterile field in the operating room · Assesses the patient’s condition and address their needs before and during surgery · Works with physicians and anesthesiologists to develop a care plan for the patient during surgery · Ensures all sterile fields are not compromised during the procedure by keeping the surgical area clean and organized · Removes instruments and sponges as they are used during the procedure · Ensures patient safety during the procedure · Keeps precise documentation throughout the procedure · Dispenses supplies and medication as needed · Handles specimens and special apparatus · Adheres to all Round Rock Surgery Center policies and procedures · Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor · Demonstrates regular and predicta...
