Engineering Technician II - Construction Inspection

Job description

The City of Topeka’s Public Works department is seeking a qualified individual to join its Engineering team as an Engineering Technician II. This is a technical position in the area of construction inspection, construction surveying, interpretation of plans and specifications, documentation of construction activities and other related engineering work. This position’s primary hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; hours may vary depending on department needs. What you'll do: - Inspect new construction, renovation and repair work for quality, materials and workmanship. - Prepare and maintain construction progress reports and material testing documentation. - Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, maps, legal descriptions and exhibits. - Perform soil, concrete, asphalt, utility and other materials testing in both a field and laboratory setting.
