Description The Biofeedback Intervention Technology for Speech lab at NYU (BITS Lab), directed by Dr. Tara McAllister, has an opening for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate. BITS lab conducts research at the intersection of experimental phonetics and speech pathology, with a focus on how technology can enhance the acquisition of new speech skills. The postdoc will contribute to a new project developing and testing real-time acoustic biofeedback for sibilant distortions in adolescents with severe jaw misalignment (dentofacial disharmony). Depending on the candidate's background, the role may emphasize clinical research activities (study design, data collection and acoustic analysis, and manuscript preparation) or technical research activities (collaborative development of acoustic visualization tools, signal processing research, and prototype evaluation), or both. The postdoc will also supervise students in the lab in data processing or quality assurance activities. Because BITS Lab operates as a distributed team, there is, in addition to the option of working fully onsite, an option for this position to be mostly remote for U.S.-based candidates ( Eastern or Central time zone).
