Description Medical Laboratory Technician Job Description Summary The Medical Laboratory Technician has a dual functioning role, supporting both phlebotomy tasks and back-end lab duties. This person is responsible for both lab coordinator duties and high complexity testing. This position reports to the Medical Laboratory Manager. Medical Laboratory Technician Responsibilities: - Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with Quest Phlebotomists regarding day-to-day operations, including but not limited to ensuring correct collection and billing of in-house versus send out labs and updating on additions of or changes to Minnesota Women’s Care lab protocols. - Collect and process in-house lab specimens and specimens for outside lab companies. - Perform in-house laboratory testing to include high complexity testing. - Accurately enter lab orders into EHR as directed by the provider and scan to patient chart. - Demonstrating a working knowledge and understanding of the lab billing process for in-house versus send out labs based on patient’s insurance policy and lab test ordered. - Accurately document lab results in patient lab logbook and EHR immediately after resulti...
