DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Trauma Program Manager and the Trauma Medical Director. - The Trauma Registrar works under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager and the Trauma Medical Director. They also work under the supervision of the lead trauma registrar. The registrar is responsible for the collection, entry, maintenance, and reporting of data for the Trauma Center as required by appropriate regulatory agencies. Utilizes analytical, cognitive, and leadership skills, the registrar will retrieve, organize, disseminate, and analyze the collected trauma data for injury research, epidemiology studies, prevention initiatives, patient safety, and performance improvement. The original data shall be obtained from Emergency Department records, electronic medical records, and EMS chart review. The registrar will code and enter data into the computerized trauma registry, maintaining confidentiality at all times. High-quality studies begin with the entry of high-quality data.
