JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Laboratory Director or designee in charge, The Phlebotomist is responsible for patient identification, drawing blood, specimen handling, labeling and transporting specimens to the lab, and inputting data into the computer in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. This position requires customer service skills and knowledge of different tests that are run in the laboratory or sent to reference laboratories.
