Department: Hospice: Shift/schedule: Full Time (40 hrs/wk): GENERAL SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the Outpatient Nurse Manager. The Hospice Aide's primary job function is to provide personal hygiene, supportive care, and light housekeeping for Hospice patients and families. This position assists the caregivers in maintaining the patient in a home setting by helping with day-to-day needs on an intermittent basis. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: Licensure: Experience: - High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required - Completion of approved nursing assistant, home care aide, or long term care nursing assistant training or equivalent experience required - Home Care competency evaluation program within 90 days of hire required - BLS within 90 days of hire required - BMVL required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers) - Approximately six months prior experience in either the acute, long term care or community based care setting preferred.
