Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE: Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will support the Principal Investigator (Dr Alan Godfrey) in delivery of research activity on the CuePD-Extend project. Parkinson’s disease can make walking more difficult and increase the risk of falls, which can affect a person’s confidence, independence, and quality of life. Cueing techniques, such as walking to music, can help improve gait and reduce falls by providing prompts that support steadier, more consistent movement. This study will explore a new smartphone app called CuePD , which uses personalised music matched to an individual’s walking pace to improve gait. The role will start 01 July 2026 and finish on 31 December, 2027. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 therefore the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. ABOUT THE TEAM: This Research Project is being delivered within the School of Computer Science as well as partners from the School of Healthcare and Nursing Sciences and School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilittaion at Northumbria University.
