Melt Crew Department: Manufacturing - Melt: Employment Type: Full Time: Location: Columbia, PA - Plant: Reporting To: Darrin Steadman: Compensation: $23.50 / hour: Description: The Melt Crew is responsible for safely handling molten metal at extremely high temperatures, supporting daily furnace operations, and maintaining related equipment such as ladles and refractory linings. This includes preparing and pouring metal, performing routine repairs, and ensuring all work is conducted with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and attention to detail. How You Will Help: - The melt crew must be able to interact with liquid metal at temperatures exceeding (2800) degrees. - Responsible for maintaining holders / ladles and at times repairs on the furnace including daily patches, repairs and relining the refractory. - Preparing the pouring ladles for daily use; pouring metal into ladles. - Ability to take direction from supervisor; understanding temperatures; molten iron safety; assisting with the cleaning/maintaining furnaces ladles. - Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner.
