Job description

Job Summary Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs basic skills per hospital/unit guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Is responsible for preparing the obstetrical/gynecologic suite, handling obstetrical/gynecologic instruments intraoperatively and maintaining a sterile field for obstetrical/gynecologic procedures. Evaluates changing conditions during the obstetrical/gynecologic procedures and makes appropriate responses to them. Essential Functions: Provides direct patient care under the direction of the RN, consistent with hospital policies and procedures and unit-based routines, informing patients about treatments, equipment utilized, and other related activities as appropriate. Collects and monitors data and reports physiological, psychological, socio-cultural and spiritual needs of patients and significant others in coordination with and as delineated by the RN documenting activities within areas of responsibility in an accurate and timely manner.
