Job Overview Performs duties operating a large semi-tractor trailer or roll-off truck and other motorized equipment and vehicles used in the transport of bulk solid waste material. Salary: $43,680 Ideal Candidate: The Hillsborough County Solid Waste Department is seeking a Solid Waste Transfer Equipment Operator to operate semi‑tractor trailers, roll‑off trucks, and other motorized equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in semi‑tractor‑trailer operation. Preferably, the candidate will possess knowledge of solid waste operations. The candidate must be able to tolerate loud sounds in a waste transfer station, strong odors from trash, and exposure to dirt‑filled grounds. The candidate will also perform manual labor in an outside environment, exposed to heat, sun, high humidity, rain, and other adverse weather conditions. The candidate will walk or stand for prolonged periods of time (approximately six (6) hours per day).
