Job description

Title: Operating Engineer (M) CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under direct supervision, operates equipment used in park buildings and field houses for heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, ice conditioning equipment, filtration and pumping. Makes minor repairs and adjustments and performs preventive maintenance to said equipment. Performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Has direct charge of the equipment, operation and general care of - Heating - Ventilating - Air-conditioning - Refrigeration - Ice conditioning equipment - Filtration and pumping equipment in a park building - Swimming pool or field house including boilers - Burners - Fuel handling pumps - Compressors - Water purifying equipment - Water heating appliances - Fan blowers - Air filters and other electro/mechanical equipment. - Fires the boiler, maintains water level in boiler and operates fans and accessory equipment. - Writes reports of fuel consumed. - Cleans and keeps in order the equipment and premises. - Performs preventive maintenance and minor emergency repairs on mechanical equipment.
