Description The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for an open-rank faculty member related to cybersecurity (broadly defined) to begin in August 2025. The appointment is 9 months per year. Candidates should have finished their PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or an appropriately related field before their appointment start date. A successful candidate should have a strong background in relevant mathematical and statistical methods and possess research synergy with current faculty members. Research interests including, but not limited to, data science and machine learning in cybersecurity, as well as quantum computation and encryption in cybersecurity, are desirable. Qualifications: Candidates should have finished their PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or an appropriately related field before their appointment start date. We seek candidates who will establish vigorous, externally-funded research programs and contribute to the diversity and excellence in departmental teaching, mentoring, and service.
