POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Educator for the Birthing Unit provides strategic, operational support and leadership to nursing practice and education initiatives for the Birthing Unit and across the WHNP program. The Nurse Educator provides both clinical and educational expertise within a client-centered, evidence informed focus, to support and advance nursing excellence and quality of care within and across Obstetrics. The Nurse Educator will develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate education programs that enhance and foster knowledge translation and contribute to high quality patient outcomes within the Birthing Unit at SJHH. The nurse educator will promote continuous learning, professional development, continuous quality improvement and service excellence through role modeling, coaching and mentoring, and effectively engage staff to create and support an interprofessional environment that promotes learning, inquiry, innovation, accountability, collaboration, team building, professionalism and a just culture.
