Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Underwriting Consultant – Stop Loss! About the role: In this role, you will assess risk on new and existing employer groups and develop appropriate pricing strategies. You’ll be accountable for achieving profitability, persistency, and growth goals by analyzing claims data, medical information, and plan design while collaborating closely with Sales, Brokers, and internal partners. This role is well-suited for an experienced stop-loss underwriter who enjoys working on complex cases, influencing outcomes, and serving as a trusted subject-matter expert. What You’ll Do: - Evaluate risk within assigned authority levels by analyzing claims experience, shock losses, aggregate performance, and medical information. - Determine appropriate pricing using multiple tools and methodologies, including the development and application of aggregate factors. - Underwrite complex new business and renewal cases, exercising sound judgment within (and occasionally outside) established guidelines. - Communicate and negotiate case pricing with Sales, Brokers, and producers to support balanced decisions aligned with profitability and growth goals. -...
