Overview Full-Time student of a specialized internal training program. A Scrub Assistant Trainee participates in the 6-month formal education program to train for the role of a surgical technologist in the Operating Room (OR) or Surgery environment. The program prepares students to assist with operations in the operating room, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, surgical assistants, or other surgical personnel. The Surgical Tech role helps set up the operating room, maintain an aseptic environment, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeon’s assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies and instruments.
