The Royal Hobart Hospital invites suitable applicants to apply for training within the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Rehabilitation Medicine is a recognised physician speciality with a dedicated 4-year training program overseen by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. The Royal Hobart Hospital is an accredited training site with four accredited training positions. A doctor is eligible to apply to be admitted as a rehabilitation trainee at the end of PGY2. Rehabilitation Medicine is the diagnosis, assessment and management of an individual with a disability due to illness or injury. Rehabilitation physicians work with patients and families to help them achieve an optimal level of performance and improve their quality of life. Rehabilitation Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital encompasses inpatient wards (dedicated rehabilitation units and in-reach rehabilitation), outpatient services and procedural services, including ultrasound guided injection of botulinum toxin. Rehabilitation Registrars receive clinical support and supervision via the team of Rehabilitation Physicians and have access to a comprehensive training program and protected teaching time.
