Description GENERAL SUMMARY: The Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the surgical team and provides quality care to our patients. Care is rendered by providing and controlling the sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment required during surgical intervention. The technologist ensures that the instruments and supplies are cleaned, sterilized, and available when needed. Requirements: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Assembles supplies and equipment for surgical procedures. Opens sterile supplies and prepares for operative procedures. - Sets up table, instruments and supplies according to the type of surgical procedure. - Applies principles of asepsis. Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques. - Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeon during procedure.
