A Healthcare Risk Manager typically reports to the Chief Clinical or other appropriate administrator and is responsible for managing and integrating the risk management program into the quality and safety activities of assigned clinical areas. The HRM works in collaboration with the clinical team to ensure adherence to all federal regulations and clinical policies and systematically investigates all clinical incidents/accidents/events that could lead to patient or staff harm and/or financial loss and ensures all risk management activities are in compliance with industry standard risk management guidelines that are overseen by regulatory government agencies. The work involves handling sensitive patient, legal and financial information all of which directly affects the University's public image and legal or financial status. Based upon assigned functions, a Healthcare Risk Manager position is intended to qualify for exempt status under the Administrative duties exemption of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
