Description The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for up to three term faculty positions for Academic Year 2016-2017. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 29, 2016. Rank will be dependent on experience and education. The position may be renewable, pending satisfactory performance and budgetary approval. Applicants should hold a minimum of a master’s degree in mathematics or statistics and show experience teaching at the college level. Experience teaching basic statistics is preferred. Responsibilities for a Professorial Lecturer include teaching 18-21 credits during the academic year as well as scholarship and/or service activities. Responsibilities for an Instructor include teaching 23-25 credits during the academic year as well as scholarship and/or service activities. Course assignments are made in consultation with the Department Chair. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in Department and University activities and service.
