Job Description As a Laboratory Technician at Bath Iron Works, this position will provide support services to a busy and dynamic shipyard. Most tasks support industrial activities both shipboard and land side. Tasks of the Laboratory Technician include but not limited to: The Laboratory Technician must have the capability to become a Shipyard Competent Person within 6 months of being hired, and will then be expected to perform the following tasks: - Chemical & physical testing. - Calibration of BIW equipment. - Industrial hygiene monitoring. - Environmental inspections at all facilities. - Shipboard audits. - Sampling and visual inspections. - Helping with coordination of waste vendors. - Other audits and tasks as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor. - Confined space audits. - Hot work permit review and authorization. - Spray paint permit review and authorization. Required/Preferred Education/Training: - Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, environmental studies, marine studies, or environmental engineering preferred, or, alternatively, an Associate’s Degree or minor in the same fields with at least 2 years of pertinent recent work experience is required. - Spec...
