Assistant Teacher

Job description

In your position as Assistant Teacher, your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Hours of Work - Arrive no later than 20 minutes before class so that you are ready to start working 15 minutes before class starts - Stay until the last child leaves, everything is put away and any other tasks for the teacher are finished (be prepared for this to take more than 15 minutes!) - If you are going to be absent, find a replacement at least a week ahead of time - In cases of sudden illness, try to find a replacement and if not, let the office know by 1:00 pm Assisting Students: - Keep a full set of class notes and ensure that students get any missed work - Complete all of the homework yourself at least one week ahead of the class - Before class, get students settled and answer any homework questions - During the teaching period, walk around class and help students organize and write good notes and ensure that they are on task - Help weaker students during class - sit beside them if necessary!
