Postdoctoral Researcher – Electrochemistry & Operando Interfacial Characterization (CNM)

Job description

The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with deep expertise in electrochemistry. The successful candidate will lead efforts in nanomaterials synthesis and in situ/operando characterization of liquid–solid interfaces during electrochemical conversions. This position offers the opportunity to leverage CNM’s advanced user facilities and instrumentation, publish in high-impact venues, and collaborate closely with scientists across CNM, Argonne, and external partners. Key Responsibilities: Design, synthesize, and rigorously evaluate well-defined nanomaterials for catalytic and electrochemical applications Develop, implement, and optimize in situ electrochemical cells to probe liquid–solid interfaces under reaction conditions Plan and execute in situ/operando experiments using advanced characterization methods, including Near Ambient Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (NAP-XPS), electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and related techniques Conduct electrochemical testing and benchmarking; analyze and interpret complex datasets to elucidate mechanisms and structure–property relationships Document res...
