Job Summary: The Welder II is responsible for laying out, fitting, and fabricating metal components to assemble structural forms in a mechanical environment. This role requires intermediate-level expertise in welding techniques, metallurgy, and interpreting engineering specifications. Key duties include performing tack and full welds, inspecting weld quality, reading blueprints, and operating precision measuring tools. The Welder II must demonstrate reliability, a willingness to learn, and maintain a positive attitude while working in physically demanding conditions that may include outdoor exposure and elevated workspaces. Responsibilities: Qualifications: - Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, caliper, and ruler. - Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies. - Cuts workpieces, using powered saws, hand shears, or a chipping knife. - Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to the joint or to extrude melted scrap into a reusable form. - Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. - Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using a micrometer...
