Senior Avionics Engineer (Batteries) Department: Avionics: Employment Type: Full Time: Location: Redondo Beach: Reporting To: Kevin Mikolaitis, Director of Avionics Compensation: $135,000 - $165,000 / year Description: As a Senior Battery Engineer, you will design and test new lithium-ion battery packs for use in Impulse’s current and next generation space vehicles. You will work directly with mechanical, electrical, thermal, structural, manufacturing, and test teams. You will have the opportunity to contribute to all phases of spacecraft development, from concept to full rate production as part of a fast paced high reliability environment. Responsibilities: - Develop new lithium‑ion battery packs to meet mission requirements - Own battery pack safety, test, and qualification plans - Develop, manage, and maintain all design documentation including CAD, ICDs, BOMs, etc - Act as the Responsible Engineer working closely with the program and manufacturing team through build, test, and delivery of flight hardware - Own full product lifecycle - Interface with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing and test teams - Perform electrical, structural, and thermal simulations.
