Job description

Leads and trains Microbiologists and Medical Lab Techs in performing complex microbiological work concerned with the control of communicable diseases and other health hazards in the community. Management Scope: Leads over Microbiologists and Medical Lab Techs 1. Acts as lead to microbiologists and Medical Lab Techs in cultivating, isolating, identifying, detecting and reporting bacterial and viral agents found in clinical specimens. 2. Conducts serological testing for the detection of bacterial and viral agents and reports results. 3. Leads quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media and applicable environmental conditions. 4. Monitors accountability of safety procedures, proficiency testing, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. 5. Assists the manager in training and coaching staff. 6. Prepares monthly reports for management as necessary. 7. Acts as a supervisor in their absence. 8. Performs other duties as assigned.
