Job description

Responsibilities The Working Supervisor position is responsible for assisting the Head of LARS with the oversight and management of the Laboratory Animal Research Service (LARS) vivarium at the Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute (LFKRI). This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the vivarium, including conducting room rounds; maintaining regular communication with scientists, veterinarians, and the Head of LARS regarding daily care; administering treatments prescribed by clinical veterinarians and/or the Head of LARS; monitoring and documenting all health assessments, treatments, and follow-up care; participating in training initiatives; actively participating in quarterly sentinel health screenings; and providing coverage for husbandry technicians as needed. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned, such as specific vivarium room round duties and other departmental needs.
