Job description

Role Overview The PIC Production Technician is responsible for specialized swine care and technical reporting, along with additional husbandry tasks to ensure the well-being of the animals. These tasks require technical knowledge and expertise gained through an animal sciences background to ensure ongoing scientific research and animal breeding can be successfully conducted. Education background will usually be in veterinary sciences, zoology, or equivalent sciences. This role is conducted in direct support of the efforts of our agricultural sciences professionals and our laboratory research in Canada. You Will: - Daily animal husbandry tasks in support of breeding and scientific research including: - Pig placement - Pig healthcare and medication, including basic veterinary procedures - Feeding management - Environment, water, and ventilation management - Off Testing - Collection of blood samples - Production records keeping - Maintain accurate and timely production information and records as required by the supervising agricultural sciences professionals - Assist in moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flows - Complete all tasks pertaining to farrowing, including foster...
