POSITION TITLE: Elementary School Counselor HOURS OF WORK: 8 Hour s Per Day /197 Calendar Days Per Year DEPARTMENT : Elementary Counselor: STATUS : Certified – Exempt: POSITION SUMMARY : This position is responsible for delivering district counseling curriculum and work ing with students in classroom, group, and individual settings . This position is expected to assist students with academic and social emotional learning concerns as well as instruct and advise students on individual and social development. This position is part of an Elementary School team and reports to Elementary School Principal. PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with students’ concerns regarding academic, emotional or social difficulties. Collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, other educators and community resources on behalf of students. Facilitate prevention programs. Provide planned, short-term and goal-focused individual counseling. Provide support and assistance to students and families in crisis and emergency situations.
