Summary The diagnostic sonographer utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnosis. Experience: Minimum of three months (RDMS) preferred. Education: Graduate from an approved Ultrasonography program, certification eligible. Certification Required: ARRT with certification in Sonography or RDMS required within 1 year of hire. Essential Functions: - Performs the scanning examination requested by the referring physician, modifying the examination, depending on the findings demonstrated, and review the examination with the supervising radiologist. - Assists the radiologist or the clinician in special procedures such as percutaneous fluid aspiration or biopsy procedures. - Performs routine equipment checks for resolution and other quality control procedures, as necessary. - Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while getting on to scanning table, if unsafe situation occurs (such as a fire), getting patient to safety and sounding alarm.
