Job description

Objective of Position: Prepares and finishes metal surfaces of trailers in preparation for painting process. Principal Responsibilities: Position Qualifications: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. - Follows surface preparation specifications on trailers and accessories. - Follows supervisor/assistant supervisor’s instructions. - Uses blasting equipment to remove rust, carbon, mill scale and weld spatter. May be required to use buffers and chippers etc. to clean hard to reach areas. - Handles and utilizes all material used in the blast areas in a safe manner. - Applies primer and topcoat to trailers - Repairs paint on trailers - Operates overhead crane in a safe manner. - Is familiar with all equipment used and is responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep. - Advises supervisor of any problems with sandblasting equipment or trailers. - Monitors supplies needed in area and updates supervisor as necessary. - Carefully prepares trailers for blasting or painting, by masking off key components on the trailer that are not blasted or painted. - Handles, stores and disposes of all hazardous ma...
