Job description
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Ophthalmology and Clinical Supervisor, the Ophthalmic Technician evaluates patient’s visual status, documents past medical and ocular histories, confirms medical drug regimen, quantifies visual acuity, performs diagnostic visual testing, assists physicians with ophthalmic care of patients and is responsible for the maintenance of ophthalmic equipment. Assists an Eye Center Physician and other technical support personnel to perform diagnostics tests necessary for evaluation of patient eye problem. - Documents patient complaint, past medical history, and medication use. - Performs preliminary screening examinations for physician review including, but not limited to, central and peripheral visual field tests; color vision tests; tonometry, tonography and tensilon tonography tests to determine intraocular pressure and equality and reaction prior to dilation. Performs autorefraction, lensometry, measures and quantifies eyeglass prescription. - Directs the flow of patients examined by the Eye Center Physician; obtains medical and personal data for patient charts; screens patients for conditions excluding ocular examination. , ocular imagini...
