Description The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2022. Applicants should have a PhD in anthropology. Candidates should be able to present a record of effective teaching and highly regarded scholarship in the form of peer-reviewed publications and external funding that aligns with department priorities. We welcome applications from scholars with specializations in urbanization, inequality, social equity, and human security in the global south, including Africa, Asia, or Latin America. A teaching specialization in sociocultural anthropology is preferred. In addition to scholarship, teaching, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, responsibilities will include participation in department, college, and university activities.
