PRN NIGHTS: The Clinical Laboratory Assistant – Phlebotomist performs routine technical and clerical functions. The CLA performs venipuncture - capillary puncture, labels tubes and specimen containers, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; may perform CLIA waived laboratory tests. The lab assistant – phlebotomist completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. General Functions: reference laboratories. MINIMUM EDUCATION : High School Graduate or equivalent PREFERRED EDUCATION : Completion of a Phlebotomy program PREFERRED EXPERIENCE : Six months of hospital lab assistant - phlebotomy experience - Performs venous and capillary phlebotomy - Maintains specimen integrity and follows proper labeling protocols for specimens’ tubes/containers - Processes blood and other body fluids for various analyses to be performed by either BHS or - Tests specimens, under general supervision, for clinical studies in accordance with established BHS policies and procedures - Reports lab results accurately and responsively, recognizing abnormal or unexpected results, errors and problems with patient tests. - Inputs and retrieves data from th...
