Job description

The Fraunhofer IEG conducts research in the fields of integrated energy infrastructures, geothermal energy, and sector coupling to support a successful energy transition. Our research institution performs applied research, develops innovative technologies for public and industrial clients, and transfers these into market-ready products and processes. As part of the research project V2Xplore, this master’s thesis aims to develop a methodology for deriving representative distribution grid models (“typical grids”) for Germany based on publicly available data from medium- and low-voltage power networks. The objective is to reduce the computational effort of grid simulations while enabling meaningful analyses of the impacts of Vehicle-to-X (V2X) applications on a national scale. The thesis offers the opportunity to work on independent modeling tasks while being integrated into an interdisciplinary research team. The position is based at the Aachen site, with the option to work remotely within Germany. Be part of change: - Analysis of publicly available data in the context of electrical energy systems - Development of a methodology to derive typical grids for Germany, e.g., using cluster...
