POSITION TITLE: Middle School Autism Teacher DEPARTMENT: SPED: STATUS: Certified, Exempt – Contract: POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for a middle school special education autism classroom. The person in this position is expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program for an elementary environment that guides and encourages students to develop and grow. They must demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds. They will participate in professional activities as well as extracurricular and/or academic support activities. This position is part of the middle school team and reports to the principal. PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare and deliver lessons to facilitate active learning. Instruct, encourage and monitor students' learning--adjusting strategies as needed to optimize learning. Maintain accurate, complete records of students' progress--and prepare all required related documentation.
