Summary The Medical Laboratory Technician ASCP performs laboratory procedures in a timely and accurate manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This position carries out functional duties in the Pre-Analytic, Analytic, and Post-Analytic phases of the laboratory workflow. The technician may be required to share responsibility for delegating work assignments for self and coworkers in the absence of a supervisor or lead. Compliance with CLIA standards is required, specifically responsibilities under 42CFR493.1495 for high complexity testing and 42CFR493.1425 for moderate complexity testing personnel. Essential Responsibilities: - Performs only those moderate and high complexity tests authorized by the Laboratory Medical Director and requiring skills commensurate with education, training, experience, and technical abilities. - Follows laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results. - Maintains records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. - Adheres to quality control policies and documents all quali...
